System Check
Technical Resource Group, TRG, strongly recommends that Windows servers be regularly checked by a certified Windows professional. TRG has a system check that can be scheduled, preferably on a monthly basis. This way all the latest security patches can be installed quickly before issues can arise. A proactive system check will save time and money in the long run. A TRG Health or System check consists of the following: 1. Delete all temporary and Internet temporary files 2. Check for current Microsoft releases, patches, service packs 3. Download latest virus definition files (if AntiVirus software is installed and support is current) 4. Run system virus scan & remove viruses if found (if AntiVirus software is installed and support is current) 5. Run ScanDisk 6. Run disk defragmentation 7. Document system configurations and software licenses 8. Check memory 9. Check available disk space and disk health 10. Check physical system environment (clean area, temperature, etc.) 11. Check UPS (if unit is installed and in use) 12. Clean tape drive(s) 13. Check for valid backup occurrence, proper tape rotation and procedures (make sure important files being backed up) 14. Check system performance 15. Check which services are being run & delete unnecessary services 16. Check all event logs to see if any items need to be addressed 17. Check system security (physical, firewall in place, passwords in place, etc.) 18. Check for remote access capability for support reasons

the system check, TRG shall provide the customer with a written
